Men, no matter how experienced in life inevitably get screwed over at one point or another whether it be through divorce courts, romantic relationships, friends or even family. While society doesn’t give a crap about these hardships of men at all, it is my hope that this channel can atleast give some clarity and relatability on these issues in a world where nobody seems to acknowledge them at all. Though I’m not a commentator by nature, I think it’s important that men share this information with one another to navigate the problems we all face. If you’re interested in learning with me about these issues as they branch into others such as mental illness, wellbeing and accountability - you’ve come to the right place. After months and months I’ve finally developed a space where men can share their thoughts and opinions (if susan doesn’t boot us off, get on Locals gents) and I think it’s important we take advantage of it - even if we don’t feel like talking about some of these unpleasant issues. ?️ Who Am I? My name is Taylor the Fiend, but you can just call me Taylor. I help men understand the bitter truths of modern dating & society. When I was younger (and probably still today let’s be honest) I was incredibly reckless and stupid. I had no cynicism or worldly experience and this caused me to go through a lot of stupid relationships and patterns that made life very difficult. This isn’t to complain (as these things were completely my own fault), more to share with you where I started. ?️ My Story. Now, fast forward some time - adding a hefty amount of cynicism to the mix, I started to realize that people don’t always have your best interests at heart. A bitter realization, but a necessary one. Though I’ve been screwed over my fair share from my stupid decisions, I watched men around me who were far more established, intelligent and experienced get screwed over for far more irregardless. Divorce courts, a society that pushes away masculinity and a dash of misandry - have left men out in the cold metaphorically and physically speaking. It gives me hope that myself as well as many other men have reached a point where we can look back and learn from our mistakes. Today I want to share an article called: "Man Dubbed 'Creep' For Using Elliptical At The Gym" Apparently it was a slow new day over at newsweek and so they covered a story that sounds more like gossip and shaming language then it does news. Here's what part of that article says and I quote: "Readers of a viral post on the Reddit forum "Am I the A**hole" backed a woman who said she decided to cut her workout short after a man decided to use the elliptical machine right next to her. She shared that she typically goes to the gym at night to avoid large groups of people. However, a man hopped on the elliptical machine right next to her despite there being a row of other empty machines. Many readers chimed in to write that she was not out of line to leave early, some even criticizing the man for his gym etiquette. "It made me a little uncomfortable, so I shortened my workout by a few minutes and hopped off to grab a disinfectant wipe," she said. When she returned to her machine, she said the man asked her "what her problem was. Caught off guard, she said she told him that she was done with her workout. "But he said something about me 'treating him like a predator for no reason' and then put his headphones back in," she wrote, concluding her post. "That guy is a weirdo," a top comment read. "Gym etiquette: don't take the machine RIGHT NEXT to someone if there are other vacant ones. Especially during covid. And not next to a single woman." Many Redditors wrote that his reaction to her leaving was also strange. "He jumped to conclusions from the act of you getting off an elliptical, sounds like he's projecting some feelings there," one Reddit user wrote. "He had no reason to assume she was weirded out by him other than that he obviously knew it was weird to take the elliptical right next to her's," a comment read. I love stories like this because the guy at the gym shamed for something she may or may not have done and then proceeded to tune her out by putting his earphones one. He made what appears to be a judgement call and then didn't give her a chance to respond like a boss. That's what a woman would do. Men are increasingly behaving like petty passive aggressive females. Women have complained about toxic masculinity and now they are getting toxic femininity thrown back in their face and all they can say is muh etiquette. And here's what they have to say and I quote: "I'm still bothered by the US cultural idea that men can only be non-romantically intimate with one another in war-like or or competitive circumstances. I'm pretty quiet about the fact that I'm a transman usually, but holy horse poop I need to tell you about the culture shock I'm going through because it's blindsiding me. It's now blatantly clear to me that most cis men probably experience chronic emotional malnutrition. They're deprived of social connection just enough to seriously mess with their psyches, but not enough for them to realize that it's happening and what's causing it. It's like they're starving but don't know this because they've always been served 3 meals except those meals have never been big enough. In the case of women: When I'm on in public and interact with women, all of them come off as incredibly aloof, cold and mirthless. I have never experienced this before even though I know exactly what this composure is - the armor that keeps away creepy-ass men. As someone who used to wear it myself, I know this armor is 100% impersonal. Nobody likes wearing it, and I can say with absolute certainty that women would dump the armor in favor of unconditional companionship with men if doing this didn't run the risk of actual assault. I only have a complete understanding of this context because I've experience female socialization. If I hadn't, I would've thought this coldness was a conspiracy against me devised by roughly half the human population. Even now, with all that I know about navigating the world as a woman, I'm failing to convince my monkey-brain that this armor isn't social rejection. And as for male socialization? Again, it seems taboo for a man to be platonic ally intimate with men for reasons I have yet to fully understand, but I think it boils down to number 1 the fact society teaches boys that it's not okay to be soft with each other, and number two garden-variety homophobia. 10 images licensed and paid for through BigStock.com.
