A freak wave rolled in over Rio de Janeiro, and just kept rolling. Umbrellas, towels, people and the beach itself were no match for the ‘sneaker wave,’ an unusually high wave that appears to be a regular wave, until it’s too late. This particular one was a miniature tsunami, reaching 3.5m tall. The wave continued into the city itself, flooding the Leblon neighborhood and prompting an industrial-strength cleanup operation to remove the sand, debris and people. Of course, lots of people were filming and putting it on the internet, rather than getting to slightly less wet ground.

It is unclear if anyone was injured, or indeed what caused the freakishly high wave. One working theory is that it was a remnant of a large storm in the South Atlantic, although meteorologists have conceded it might have just been a really big wave.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Freedom over censorship, truth over narrative.
Follow us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/RTnews
Follow us on Telegram: https://t.me/rtnews
Follow us on X: https://twitter.com/RT_com

You know when you lose your keys under the sofa, but instead of getting them out you only succeed in demolishing the house? That was the fate of our two hapless heroes in Oakland, California, who decided it would be a great idea to steal an ATM from a store using a backhoe. By the looks of things, neither of them had operated the machine before, and ended up very gracefully smashing the store to bits, including the ATM. After giving up and trying to chain the ATM to the vehicle manually, they found their chain was too short. This cruel and hilarious twist of fate prompted the pair to leave dejectedly, not even able to cheer themselves up with a drive-thru since they didn’t have any cash.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Freedom over censorship, truth over narrative.
Follow us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/RTnews
Follow us on Telegram: https://t.me/rtnews
Follow us on X: https://twitter.com/RT_com
Under a Ferris Wheel lies a terror tunnel. Soldiers from Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have been uncovering a range of underground shafts used by Hamas to hide and move troops, and store weapons. One was located next to a children’s amusement park. Another, described as a ‘weapons warehouse’ was discovered near a ‘civilian university.’ Both of the Hamas holes were discovered by paratroopers and quickly became targets for removals. IDF bulldozers were called in to bulldoze the hole (somehow), while soldiers disposed of the contents and potential occupants in a more expedient manner: a grenade.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Freedom over censorship, truth over narrative.
Follow us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/RTnews
Follow us on Telegram: https://t.me/rtnews
Follow us on X: https://twitter.com/RT_com

Family loving US politician Ilhan Ohmar gave a fiery and impassioned speech to Congress after the House voted to censure fellow representative Rashida Tlaib. The House voted 234 to 188 that Tlaib was ‘promoting false narratives regarding the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack on Israel and for calling for the destruction of the state of Israel.’ The announcement of the censure, the second such in a week for her anti-Israel stance, caused her to break down in tears, prompting a defense by fellow Muslim Ohmar. Practically screaming at those who voted to censure, Ohmar said ‘Polestinians [sic] are dying in the tens of thousands, but [they] will continue to say it us who are not acknowledging humanity.’

Tlaib has been repeatedly criticized for her staunch anti-Israel stance, and had even defended her use of the phrase ‘from the river to the sea’ as ‘aspirational.’ However, it should be noted that a vote to censure is merely a public reprimand, and, like Congress, doesn’t actually do anything.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Freedom over censorship, truth over narrative.
Follow us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/RTnews
Follow us on Telegram: https://t.me/rtnews
Follow us on X: https://twitter.com/RT_com

When is a genocide not a genocide? If you’re the US State Department, the determination of what to label a ‘genocide’ depends entirely on how fashionable it is, rather than any actual numbers or intent. State Department Deputy Spokesman Vedant Patel was on the unfortunate end of a rather rare sight on the Hill: a journalist asking an unexpected and difficult question. As the subject turned to the recent Israeli government whitepaper discussing the forced relocation (or worse) of the Gazan population, a journalist asked ‘what metric are you using to determine genocide?’ Patel tried to dismiss the line of questioning by defining away the problem. ‘That is not a term that we have assessed pertains to this current conflict. We are of course monitoring the evolving situation.’

Not taking a non-answer for answer, the journalist pressed. ‘President Biden has accused the Russian government of genocide for its actions in Ukraine where in two years, it has killed as many civilians as Israel has killed in one month in the Gaza Strip. So how do you account for that disparity where you're assisting one country and accusing the other of genocide when the country you're assisting has systematically killed so many more people in one month?’

The answer is, of course ‘double standards,’ but saying so would be admitting the Biden administration actually has standards. Instead, Patel immediately accused the journalist of interrupting him, before giving the biggest non-answer you’ll ever non-hear. ‘Those circumstances are totally and completely not the same. And to make a comparison like that, candidly is incredibly uh uh uh inappropriate.’ Those ‘uhs’ are in the official transcript, by the way. Patel then reeled off the pre prepared answer to the question he wished he’d been asked instead.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Freedom over censorship, truth over narrative.
Follow us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/RTnews
Follow us on Telegram: https://t.me/rtnews
Follow us on X: https://twitter.com/RT_com
