An unnamed man decided it would be a brilliant idea to hijack a forklift from an LA construction site on Tuesday, even though he didn’t need to lift any forks. The combination of the Moon’s eccentric orbit (that’s eccentric in the sense of elliptical, not that it wears a bow tie and has strange hobbies) and atmospheric effects caused the Moon to look a bit bigger and brighter than usual, leading to spectacular shots of the Moon looking big and weird rising over the top of popular tourist attractions. <br> <br>The first full Moon of August is often called the ‘Sturgeon Moon,’ owing to it marking the start of the sturgeon fishing season in many parts of the world. The first of two supermoons in August graced the skies as it rose over Greece’s ancient Temple of Poseidon near Athens. <br> <br>A supermoon is broadly defined as a full Moon that is closer to the Earth than normal, just 222,159 miles (357,530km) away.
