Today I decided to review Cal Newport's book that I've read in a long time but never got the chance to do it.

Today I'm going to review "So Good They Can't Ignore You"

► Online Coding Interviews: How Not To Fail? ◄

Nothing can be more terrifying for a software developer than an interview—especially if it is a coding interview on a whiteboard.

Though, with the right preparation and mindset, an interview can actually be something you look forward to as a chance to show your stuff and exhibit your best skills.

I know the above statement may seem difficult to believe, especially if you’ve had not-so-great interview experiences in the past, but I’ve also had some pretty horrible interviews in my career as a software developer, and I’ve learned from those experiences.

This is a new kind of interview that has only really started to appear in earnest in the last few years, but I believe we’ll see more and more interviews conducted in this fashion.
This kind of interview is much like a phone pre-screen, but instead of taking place over the phone, it will take place over a Skype call, or another video chat equivalent, where you will be asked to solve some programming problems or even do pair programming with an interviewer so they can quickly assess your talent remotely.

How to make sure you'll succeed in an online coding interview? Is this even possible?

DEFINITELY!

What most developers don't take into account is that online coding interviews are not something impossible. You should be ready to do what your interviews wants from you.

The Earth Is Flat!!! - Is John CRAZY? Bulldog_Mindset 7 Views • 5 years ago

So the flat earth... I've seen the comments you guys left on one of my videos last week where I said that I listen to what someone claims that the earth is flat would say, because it might be true!

Just for referencing the earth is flat, I got a pretty negative reaction from you guys, so let's address it in this video!

So do I actually believe that the earth is flat? or is there anything to add or to learn from this statement? and let me ask you is ti worth it to have people believe or see things from a different perspective to the general public?

When I did a video about women craving drama, I referenced the flat earth theory and said that maybe the earth is flat, which cause a lot of your guys to be upset and some you are wondering do I really believe the earth flat or not? some of you even decided to stop following me.

And that's disappointing, but before we get into that, let me answer the big question, do I believe that the earth is flat?

Well obviously NO!

I do not believe that the earth is flat, if I had to bet a million buck on whether or not the earth is flat, I would bet on the earth no being flat!

And with that being said, do I believe in 100% certainty that the earth is round? well no!

See here is the thing, I filter out my believes pretty tightly and even then I hold to those believes somewhat loosely.

Why? well because nothing is certain, everything is a probability of certainty. Reality is huge, the actual scope of reality is unfathomable to us humans.

I personally I had my reality shaken many times, expanded many times, there are so many thing that I have seen, that I've come to believe now that were beyond possibility to me.

To take myself as an example, just the life that I'm living now, the lifestyle that I have, the things I've seen and experienced, are so outside the believes of the version of me 10 years ago, that I can't even put into words.

It's so crazy how things have changed and a lot of that has to do with my perception and looking at things thought a non dogmatic view point.

I do not hold into a believe as if I'm certain, I assume that I can't be certain about everything.

I know what you may be thinking now, that this is complete nonsense, if I'm uncertain about things, how can I cross the street, how do I know that gravity is what's holing me down right now...

And that's a straw man argument! why?

Today's video is a bit more into politics, something I usually don't go deep about, however this one is pretty interesting, It's about Andrew Yang's universal basic income idea, and why it might be a great idea.

Andrew Yang is presidential candidate for 2020 presidency, I stumbled upon his interview with Ben Shapiro, where they had a discussion on a certain number of topics, one of them as I mentioned was Andrew Yang's universal basic income. And I personally think it might be a great Idea.

I'm not out endorsing him in this video, however I am surprised to find someone who is a democrat, a liberal who has a rational understanding and mindset and good understanding of economics.

I do think it's a good idea of having a 1000 dollars a month universal income, having a 12 grand a year it relief a lot of pressure of your back, especially when it comes to entrepreneurs who wants to start a business and go through with entrepreneurial activities, it won't put you in situations where you are desperate and can't go make a progress in anything.

I know that a universal Income of 12 grand a year won't solve all your problems, but as I said it is still above poverty level and will motivate people to get jobs, become self-employed or even entrepreneurs.

And so as I said, a lot of you who are in there, want to start a business want to become entrepreneurs but there is this gap where you making on 30 to 40 grand a year, so you can't quite your job therefore you can't go through with your business.

But if we go through with Andre Yang's universal basic income idea, you will be in a different situation, here you will have a thousand dollars a month that's coming in, you can build up that side business in 4 to 5 months where you can grow it to a thousand dollars a month too, and here you can stand on your feet and keep improving your entrepreneurial activities and work more on your business.

Yeah you won't be living great at first, but you will have the freedom and foundation to improve your situation, and that's one of the reasons why I personally think Andrew Yang's universal basic income might be a great idea!

Java: Learn Java Programming For Beginners (Fast & Easy!)

Learning Java can be complex yet simple at the same time. There are a lot of programmers who want to learn Java but don't know how to start. Java is an awesome programming language that could easily add some spice to your coding skills.

I've gotten this question a lot and I'm finally going to give an answer here which is: How do I learn Java? What is the best way to learn Java? How can I learn Java? Please, sir and variations of that, basically how do you learn Java, how can I learn Java?

I think that this is an interesting question because it's-specifically some of you are asking how to learn Java and I'll give you some specific Java resources, but learning a programming language in general is really what you're trying to do. That's the skill set. The resource I'm going to give you for learning programming is I've got a couple of blog posts and I actually wrote book called The Complete Software Developer's Career Guide and I have some resources there where you can learn how to learn a programming language. Go ahead and check that out. You can sign up to get free chapters of the book. It's totally free if you sign up via email and then you could buy the hard copy if you want once it's complete.

I will talk specifically about Java, about learning and I'll give you a few resources here. Java is probably a good programming language to learn. There's a lot of resources out there. It's a very popular programming language. It's an object-oriented language. It's fairly simple. It's a lot less complicated than C++. I did a video on how to learn C++ and I kind of discourage you from learning C++ in that video because I think that that's really hard for a beginner. I think C++ is a valuable language but it's much more difficult. With Java you don't have to deal with a lot of that kind of problems. Java is still a fairly complex language. It's not a simple language so you've got to have a good strategy for learning Java.

My primary strategy, I've actually taught courses on Java and I'll link you to those in a little bit here, but first I want to talk about the strategy and what I thought was most effective for teaching people Java which is not to try and learn it in a vacuum.

If you said, "I want to learn how to use tools" that's kind of silly, but if you said, "I want to learn how to build cabinets and these are the tools I want to use to build the cabinets" now you're getting somewhere and that is the key. That's how we're going to learn Java.

It can be really difficult at first, I know. There are a lot of resources and it is hard to tell what is the best way to start learning a new programming language.

As I've talked before, learning your first programming language can be difficult. You need to practice a lot and learning a programming language might take some time. You need to invest some time if you're learning Java for the first time. However, after the first programming language learned, you can follow the next steps easily.

So, this is another book review, this time with a book that I consider being... Well... Kind of unique.

Dianetics is the book I'll be reviewing today. As some of you might know, I am a big fan of personal development, goal setting, and psychology. I found the mind aspect being one of the most powerful factors when determining if a person will be successful or not. Dianetics is definitely a good book that talks a lot about these aspects.

In this video I'm gonna be telling you about one of my key life principles, that really transformed me in a way, from not having a backbone, being anxious and afraid to someone more courageous, less anxious, somewhat of a risk taker and high a achiever.

This key principle is accept the consequences.

So why this is such important concept? how can it transform your life?

Now the way I got my eyes open to this concept was a bit unusual, after attending a Tony Robbins seminar and almost leaving the second day, I decided to give it a one all our final shot and see what happens...

It ended up being an amazing eye opening experience.

And one of the concepts that Tony Robbins shared that resonated with me was "the quality of your life is in direct proportion to the amount of uncertainty you can comfortably live with"

In other words in order to life your life accept the consequences.

Because I realized that I was building a fortress around myself, a financial fortress, emotional fortress and physical fortress...

I was protecting myself from a lot of events that can have some huge disastrous impact on me, but in the process I wasn't living my life.

Because of these barriers, this fortress I was limiting my life, I was limiting my day to day experience I was putting huge barriers to what I can achieve to what I can achieve and feel because I thought I was protecting myself.

I thought that if I create this huge safe space around me it would be the ideal decision to make and the best place to be at.

But it then hit me, I wasn't living my life, I wasn't taking risks, I was living in fear, fear of being hurt, fear of losing my money, fear of not being able let go of people...

after that realization, I decided to start taking more risks, to start going through uncomfortable experiences, riding roller-coasters flying in planes (which was somewhat I was anxious doing) being more vulnerable with my audience, taking business risks, learning how to let go of people...

I made peace with the fact that I can life my life how I want it, because I decided to accept the consequences! that decision was one of the best decisions I made in my life, it allowed me to finally feel alive and stop being in the zombie phase of life.

I often re-read books that really get my attention and make me change the way of thinking. This is why I decided to record this book review, which is from a book I've read a long time ago and but it really changed my life.

Abundance Mindset Vs. Scarcity Mindset

A while ago i did a video about how to provide good quality service for your clients. In that video, I talked about how I was going to install an air conditioner service here in my home and my quest on finding a good company that could do the service well done.

In that video, I talked that the best company actually gave me an entire class about air conditioners and was super honest, telling me what the best option was, even though I wasn't going to go with them at that time. So, recently I decided I was going to install air conditioners in my house and I called them.

This whole story only sums up a concept that I wanted to talk in this video, which is the difference between an abundance mindset vs. scarcity mindset.

When you have an abundant mindset, you've probably unlocked wealth in your life and this will make you an awesome person, that has the purpose of giving and will not worry about money and everything else. On the other hand, when you're focusing on scarcity, you're probably on some bad hands. This mindset will only make you anxious and stressed.

That's what we will get into in this video. That was a request from one of my followers who has a decently sized YouTube channel with almost 20k subscribers, who want to monetize his audience and make about 5000 dollars to fund his travel for conferences and events related to cybersecurity.

So how can he do that? well looking at his most trending videos it's easy to guess a topic for a piece of premium content that he can creat for his audience, something related to cybersecurity students, things you must learn on windows before starting to study cybersecurity, etc...

In general what I would do is create a course related to phython for student who want to get into cybersecurity.

However reviewing grants channel, videos and website he is so far ahead in the game and doing extremely well compared to his peers however there are few things that I need to point out.

Grant doesn't collect e-mails, nor does he give calls to action for his audience, he does promote other videos of his and articles from his website however he doesn't collect e-mails or have opt-ins on his website.

Doing a launch from his YouTube videos won't be a bad idea, he can make 5000 dollars real quick with that, however he can be far more effective if he collects e-mails.

So what I want you to do is go and grab this book: Launch by Jeff walker and read it, then follow the process.

Why Adversity Might Be CRUSHING YOU And How To Turn it Around Bulldog_Mindset 0 Views • 5 years ago

Hey Bulldogs! John Sonmez from Bulldog Mindset Here, where I teach you how to go from the Victim Mindset to the Bulldog Mindset.

Today I'll go through a comment left by one you guys on one of my videos which does have a good point that we will get into in this video.

Basically what we will be looking at is desensitization how it can hurt you and how it can benefit you, and what's the difference between challenges and adversity that can crush you and hurt you or might benefit you and help you grow.

The basic idea that I shared with you many times is that if you want to improve and stop being nervous and suck at some situations is by putting yourself in those unconformable situations and get repeated exposure and through adversity and challenges you no longer get phased by those events and situations that used to be a huge obstacle in your way, because you will be desensitized to it and develop an immunity to it.

However I got a comment from one of you guys, pointing to some good reasons to whys this process won' actually work and giving examples.

For his argument he mentioned that school for example force us to go through thousands of social interactions over many years, so logically no one should have social anxiety, because we will be desensitized to it by then.

Another example are tests, because we pass so many tests on the course of our school life, we should be desensitize to exams and tests, and stop getting nervous after the first couple of tests that we pass.

There are other situations where it seems repeated exposure to the pain, the challenge, the adversity makes the person only more afraid and anxious.

However there is a difference here!

The difference is, you weren't the one exposing that pain to yourself, it was thrust upon you by others.

The pain that that's thrust upon you has no benefit to you, but you the pain you willingly inject upon yourself causes you to grow.

And that's the key to making that work.

It's not adversity that makes you stronger, better and contently improving but rather YOU facing adversity!

You willingly putting yourself in situations of discomfort, of challenge and adversity and facing it, and responding.

Anyways I'll go more in deep on this subject in this video, but that the key point that you should focus on guys!

The only way to grow is by putting yourself WILLINGLY in those kind of situations that requires you become more skilled, better and grow as a person in order to get out triumphant!

Can You Have It ALL In One Life With No Regrets ? - The Best Version Of Yourself Bulldog_Mindset 2 Views • 6 years ago

Can you have it all? can you have health wealth relationships? all these things .... or you have to sacrifice one to get the other ...

A subscriber Asked: I've heard that in order to be great at anything it has to be the sole focus of your time and your effort, which means there is no balance. You sacrifice things to master and excel at others. But John your life is the opposite of that, your life defies that principle. Please do a video, or answer the following question, Is there a balance in life can you have it all ?

Starting, this is a very complex question, there are so many ways to answer this question, about having the perfect life, mastering every aspect of your life.

And to start, YES YOU CAN HAVE IT ALL. There are plenty of people that do it, and as you said in the E-mail, my life seems to defy that principle, because I BELIEVE IT! I believe there is no reason for me not to be in the best shape in any room I walk into, to be the best styled, to be the one who makes the most money.

There is no need for me to be like that. There is nothing to prove, there is nothing to say, because there will always be other people better than me at something or everything.

However that is no excuse for me not to try and be 90% of the time, the best guy in the room at everything I do. I may sound arrogant, so what? that is how I choose to live my life, THAT IS THE WAY OF THE BULLDOG MINDSET!!

And it's not just about the motivation or need, it is about the mindset that most people don't have. To Be the Best Version of Yourself.

And most of people reject Excellence, like in the video with my buddy Dan Lok, he mentioned that whenever people hear about someone making a lot of money they say it is a scam or something shady going on, that is impossible. I am a living proof of that, people tell me I can't have this physic, I can't be running marathons, doing Muay Thai, they result to accusations like steroids, or lies. Because they CAN'T achieve that living. they don't have the commitment and discipline to be the best version you can be. To live one life with no regrets. THAT IS NOT TRUE! those are assumptions that people have.

Most of people want to rationalize that there is some kind of trade of, so they can justify why they're not succeeding.

However talking about the pragmatic side of this. You can't just automatically have it all like that without effort! Just like Michael Philips did to excel in swimming, you have to isolate yourself for a period of time on focus on one thing you want to excel at, so you can be a better version of yourself, the BEST VERSION of yourself.

So how did I achieve all of these things?

It's by adding these things little by little to your life, and being in maintenance mode. I do focus on one things HOWEVER I maintain the other side of my life, I don't just abandon one thing for the other.

And to be the best version of yourself, the best guy in the room, the bar isn't very high. Just Focus one thing, and drop secondary stuff that you can come back to later, then you go back to those things after.

Believe you can have it all. You have ONE LIFE, there is no time for regrets.
