It's a fictional novel that takes place in 2021 and starts in Washington DC during the second inauguration of Donald J. Trump. Apparently Trumps American in 2021 was Totalitarian and people were more afraid than ever to protest in the streets. The story follows a girl named Penny, a Freshman at Upstate College. Upstate College is a woke place in the Finger Lakes in the middle of New York State. It also follows professor Lawrence F. Mondel as well as other staff members around him including Wes Conners, 70-something Professor Papadopoulos, Diana Martinez, Mike Fawkes and Mel Franklin. As the semester starts Professors Mondel and Conners meet for lunch and discuss how all the students are about to start venting their frustrations about Trump now that he's got another 4 year term. The Dean, Albert Metuchen meets all the faculty at a mixer event he puts on and he tells them to be extra sensitive to the students this week because they have all been triggered by the re-election of the president. Mondel doesn't seem to be phased by this and plans to bring a guest lecturer named Greizer in to speak to the class. His book is called the Centrist's Handbook. One of the professors tells Mondel that a centrist is worse to the leftists then a Republican to the kids in the college. In chapter two in mondel's class a girl named Gina or G for short says that if Tynesha has too much money, why shouldn't the rest of us get a share? That's fair" She's a millenial that feels entitled to OPP or other people's property. Like many in that generation they have no sense of delayed gratification because they were raised having everything handed to them without a struggle. Mondel tells G that if we take the money from Tynesha then that would be stealing.
