An imperial judiciary: Fact or myth? — with Antonin Scalia and Ira Glasser (1978) | ARCHIVES
December 12, 1978: This AEI Public Policy Forum examines the expanding authority of the judiciary in America and its impact on our society and system of government. Though all the panelists acknowledge the need for strong and independent courts, they disagree on what the proper bounds of judicial power ought to be. Some argue that the judiciary has expanded no more than the legislative and executive branches of government. Others contend that an active judiciairy, particularly at the federal level, is essential to maintain individual liberties. Still others argue that a dramatic growth in judicial power has been at the expense of the Congress, the executive branch, the states, and ultimately the American people. They contend that federal judges are making more and more decisions that are in fact "political" rather than "constitutional" even though they are protected from political pressure and accountability.

Panelists:
Abram Chayes — Felix Frankfurter professor of law at Harvard Law School
Ira Glasser — executive director, American Civil Liberties Union
Antonin Scalia — professor of law at the University of Chicago Law School
Laurence Silberman — senior fellow at AEI

Moderator:
John Charles Daly

Host:
Peter Hackes

In 1978, transcripts were available by mail for a small fee. yea, lets hide the truth as much as possible behind a shit-ton of word salad, because that helps so much with transparency and keeping things simple straightforward and keeps people from becoming completely corrupt.

the IRS is actually unconstitutional since it is a foreign corporation...
same for the general 'law' system which is not based on justice or common law which it was setup to be...
