Almost 600 million people in Africa don’t have access to electricity and live in countries without adequate funding for power generation. One tenth of them live in South Africa, a nation rich in resources and technology but which increasingly finds itself in the dark – in the biggest energy crisis it’s ever faced. This week the Africa Now team examines why this is the case and why South Africa is on track to beat last year’s record of 205 days of rolling blackouts.
