Alpha Males, Mate Selection, and Related Issues

There are two major camps: one says that men primarily consist of a pronounced hierarchy, with "Alpha" (naturally dominant) males at the top, who women prefer, and the other says that no hierarchy of males exists, since each individual man is different, circumstances are in flux, and that women prefer more sensitive and caring men. I say phooey to both camps, and present my own sensible explanation.
