Baby elephant and mother rescued in Thailand

An elephant calf and its mother were salvaged from a deep pit, where they fell during a storm in the Thai province of Nakhon Nayok. <br> <br>National Park officials and veterinarians used tranquilizers on the adult animal as a safety measure, as she was agitated over her one-year-old calf’s fruitless attempts to get out of the hole. She then fell in, along with her offspring, doubling the task for the rescuers.
