"Hoisted"? The best English speaker I can name misconjugates the word "hoist"? Does one say he "casted" his fishing line into the water? O don't think so. I may be wrong, or maybe both are correct, but I think the correct way to conjugate the word would be to say: "he was hoist by his own petard".
