60 seconds travelling through water at 20 Kmh = 20,000 meters per hour for 60 seconds = 20,000 / 60 = minutes / 60 = seconds = meters per second x 60 seconds... = the patch of water was around 340 meters long.

I figured by the lay of the land that the water could not have been real deep.... and as long as the air intakes were higher than the water, it should have been OK... BUT I can go deeper than the air intakes, IF there is a plough wave of low water to ride through... from the front wheel and the motor... where the water is lower.

I figured that the road was going to be OK because the water speed across the road was a snails pace - BUT this does not exclude the issues of deep dips in the road NOR does it exclude the old drain under the road, opening up a small pit of say any particular depth, from being deep enough to make the bike get stuck / flip over / fall into / sink out of sight etc.

And floods are funny things, while REASONABLE assessments can be made, an assessment is a calculated probability based upon reasonable expectations. It is NOT a FACT based determination... Like there ought to NOT be any of the road washed out, but there might be a deep sink hole just deep enough to trap the front wheel or sink the bike up to the air intakes etc.. or to tip it over...

But the roads are prone to wear and tear and pot holing, but because they are very OLD roads that have been through dozens of floods for the last 200 years, the idea of DEEP sink holes SUDDENLY opening up is extremely remote.

You don't know, but all things considered, the risk seemed low and the probability of making it across, seemed very high.

So I took it.
