When the little crops that did yield were diseased the Irish were forced to eat them and died off. In India, they did not allow Australian ships laden with wheat, for trade to disembark. Churchill had these ships divert these stores to England and the WW1 efforts to boost the buffer stores. They already had plenty. They built their own shipbuilding yards in India, to build English ships and did lowball and underhanded deals with the Indians. This is how they bled the Indian economy out.

I told some school girls once, "I don't think people necessarily get stupider as they get older, but when your born, your mind is like an empty filing cabinet, and as you live longer you keep adding more, and eventually your mind is just crammed with information, and then it's quite a deal to try and rifle through it, to find 99% of it that has been filed away and forgotten.

I understand the British loathed the Irish and Indians.In addition to the Potato Blight I came upon more obscured history in India with the Amritsar Massacre. In order to quell the Sepoy Rebellion, a one General Dwyer killed off unarmed Indian civilians that had gathered to celebrate a festival. He did not allow to tend the wounded/dead for 24 hrs. When the Crown heard of this they collected a sum of £250,000 sterling in today's rate, as a gift for this. History is written by the winners...

@sardonicsmile: Yeah - it's pretty nasty shit........ Got an ancient coffee percolator I am cleaning out..... Just the not so super clean filling water, with the odd tint of coffee or a lea leaf etc has clagged up the boiling pipe.... So it sort of sits there pissing out steam than surges of boiling water.... Naaaa actually its just a handy place and "Oooooops I should not have said that..." ------- Ummmm Compressors vibrate around, hoses cause entanglement, and this stays put and the hoses are out of the way, and it's close by to the front door and the things that need a LITTLE bit of compressed air - like dedusting computers, inflating tyres etc....
