@Pariah: I don't need to give offerings to spirits before my next hike in Thailand.. I do respect the beliefs of the locals but it's a practice that I don't need.. Because God is there to protect me wherever I go.. Just live a righteous life and pray ! It's the best offering you can give to God ! It sounds very " Christian " / " Muslim " ! But that's how we handle such things in the west.. I travelled a lot in my life and sometimes I found myself in delicate situations.. But God was there to protect me and that's how I found solutions.. Otherwise I wouldn't be here talking to you ^^

@Pariah: France is not the only country in europe where the population speak French.. Not every Thai does offerings to the spirits, not every Thai is buddhist... Don't worry for that I know how to handle difficult situations + as long as the offerings are not lives (animals / " humans " loool just a joke, don't go ballistic please ^^ ) or something which goes directly against my beliefs, no problem man ! I'm open minded.. By the way.. When do you get your Ukrainian girl ? ^^

Now that you mentioned it, I know there may be animal sacrifice, unless you're a chicken (not a coward, an actual chicken), there's nothing to be worried about. Technically, Thais aren't Buddhists, Thais are animists who pretends to be Hindu-Buddhist lol. You'd be surprised how many foreigners are actually surprised by this lol. PS. @Doggk: I have not heard anything good about Ukrainians in general. I don't know it'll be worth it teaching her it's not okay to smell like sweat & vodka, though lol. If you mean the war, I don't hear the govtparticipate in any sort of hmanitarian aid to Ukraine at all. What I heard, is the cop who ran into a doctor on a crosswalk with his bike is getting jailed for only a yr (suffice to say, getting off really easy). And our news seems to not jump on the pro Ukraine narrative either.

@Pariah: You seem to have a better understanding of western humor than many westeners ! Where did you get that from !? ^^ I know humor is different in Thailand.. Most people there are stuck in the 80s kind of humor.. But it doesn't bother me at all.. For the Ukrainian girl I was joking.. We have so much Ukrainians now in West Europe.. I can practice my Russian now lol ! Ukraine is just the new puppet of the US.. That's the main reason why Russia intervened.. Thailand doesn't like to be involved in foreign affairs that don't concern them directly.. Thailand is a country of compromise like Rama 10 said.. And that's true ! You guys have never been colonised because you know how to find compromises.. ! That's what I really do love about your country !

@Doggk: Maybe yrs of hearing westerners trying to be funny & failed to make anyone laugh lol. In Thai, western humour is interpreted as being annoying or being insulting a lot of the time. I suppose, just experience & exposure (don't be surprised if people say Monty Python isn't funny, I don't find them funny as well). Well, I want to disagree with the king but legally I can't. So I can only say, I can think of some situations his statement is false. Maybe the compromise doesn't apply to his own people? Hmm, but then again, he's a busy man (busying himself with his wife, concubines & Bavaria )... Well, I hope you enjoy the company of Ukrainian girls, I suppose. It's not hot in France anyway, so you won't smell their weat & vodka too much lol.
