Being the Evil Addict Genius that I am, I figured out that IF you DEEPLY FREEZE an alcoholic beverage, the water would FREEZE and the alcohol would stay liquid.

Ice at -25 has a density of 919.6Kg a cubic meter and it is a solid-ish block.

Ethyl alcohol (estimated) at minus -25*C has a density of 795K Kg a cubic meter and it's a liquid.

Volumetric Coefficient of Expansion (1/K, 1/oC) Alcohol, ethyl (ethanol) 0.00109 from 20*C to -25*C = 1 cubic meter shrinks to 0.965 cubic meters.

I nutted this out in terms of "re-fining" good, drinkable, CHEAP fortified wine.... about 3 years after I stopped drinking.

AND my general ignorance of fements, and the by products being methanol and other things, would have probably killed you...

With cheap good bulk fortified wine, it's a goer...

But like all things, IF you can make 2 or 3 liters a day of 70% + pure alcohol (or whatever) booze (tax free spirits) from cheap fortified wine (purchased in bulk), your probably going to die in a car wreck, a psych hospital or a gaol... or drown in your own vomit.... So I don't recommend it...

Moderation is the key, some friends of mine have been functioning alcoholics, Binge Alcoholics and just plain alcoholics but I just drink occasionally

@SoloMan Zone: I don't drink at all..... But I did used to like genuine Coopers (South Australia) Stout.... very flavoursome. After 33 years of being sober I bought the home brew kit in a tin, because I fugred that the ingredients - malted barley and hops - might if UNFERMENTED, make for a good hot weather cordial..... It turns out that the Maltose is as thick as molassas and it's DARK and strong, but the "bitter" effect from hops, is truly strong and it's not HORRIBLE but it definitely needs fermenting - properly and with all the other ingredients. The unfermented treacle from the tin is not horrible but it's not particularly nice either.... and this is from an Australian who eats Vegemite with a spoon... I think it is something that is going to be hard to aquire a taste for..... even a small level teaspoon added to a LARGE coffee (1 liter) makes it sort of sour and off..... It's too bad that you can't get properly fermented beers that have 0% alcohol in them... A cool beer in HOT weather is a refreshing drink... https://coopers.com.au/
