China still lacks a submersible troop carrier. They had better develop one and fast. A large cavernous hull with a broad elliptical cross section to allow a large internal volume and shallow draft for operating between China and the west coast of Taiwan. Roll-on roll-off ramps that hinge from the top when surfaced to allow rapid deployment of amphibious vehicles. Since it doesn't have to be fast or go deep, it can be powered by batteries that are kept charged with a gas turbine electric generator.
