Years ago, I saw a video (also 'in RUSSIA'), where a young guy (20s), built an airplane in a farm, using spare parts of a small plane and a car engine. The wings were curved into a circle (I don't recall the designation of that design), which allowed him to build the aircraft to very small dimensions.
When he took it out of the barn with his friends, that thing looked like a beat-up Willys Jeep (I think he used part of the car passenger area for the cockpit). Fixed 3-wheel for landing gear.
He got it up to adequate speed.
I looked away. (Not realky, but...a tense moment).
And....it flew!
Not terribly high, but he flew it around the area for a few minutes, landing successfully.
Flew a plane....made with spare parts.....in an area where money WAS 'a problem'.
Impressive.

Not to nitpick, but that's a gyrocopter not a helicopter. A helicopter can take off & land vertically. A gyrocopter needs foreward momentum to become airborne. Vertical stabilizers and aelerons would've been a good idea too.
