⁣This driver has shitty OLD halogens / sealed beam lights that shine in a shitty tunnel beam down the road for a short distance. I got some head light housings, fitted some high powered LED lights to them, and I very carefully dialed in the aiming of them.

So now I have aimed the low beams in very carefully, so the tops of the main beams, run about road post height for ever on a flat road, so they don't blind the on coming drivers - which I consider to be very fucking rude - and the light fans around about 160 * Degrees. This is to see things on the side of the road (kangaroos), and to see around the corners, that your steering into......

And the pictures of shit on the road, the washed out bridge, the trees across the road, the tight corners just over a rise, and the washed away road - I have seen all of these things in variations of the theme, and these are the really frightening things that you will easily run into, when your doing highway speeds, with crap fucking head lights....

And this fucking idiot with his candle stick head lights - he won't see fuck all, until he runs into it.

At 3:10 - that is HIS high beam, vs. MY low beam....

The average phone camera, does not have a deep dynamic range, from very bright, to very dark, so that being said, if you stop the video at exactly 1:15, when the centre line of the road, is exactly between the knobs on the bullbar, you can see most of the head light spread in a wide fan - about 120* degrees in the video - and his high beam shine more or less straight down the road. In Country Australia, you NEED to see as best as you can, what is coming in from the side, as well as what is on the sides of the road, and around corners..

With these retarded cunts at the Australian Design Regulations and their really idiotic rectangular tunnel of light - straight down the highway - You are fucked, Your standards are bullshit, And quite a few of the ADR's for many things, are just plain dangerous.

"Oh the lights have no spread on them, so when you are going around the corner, the lights shine straight ahead, so you can't see around the corner - and what you are going to run into if it is there, or not there."

I'll put your fool heads through your fucking desks you fucking idiots.

If you down load and pause the video at 1:02 - you can see how much spread he has on his head lights.... virtually nil.

Kangaroos in action, they CAN BE really fucking dangerous - https://youtu.be/2OJCkmFpqhk - https://youtu.be/rO0H8LB8Gcs - https://youtu.be/v7uEJ7vy710 - https://youtu.be/sjNdAypISW4 - https://youtu.be/rO0H8LB8Gcs - https://youtu.be/7_HAFsPooR4 -- https://youtu.be/rO0H8LB8Gcs -- That is why the idiot with the dim, weak, narrow beam head lights, is a fool.

And the ADR's - sometimes - they are absolute bullshit.

I have been on the committee's - and most of them are fucking idiots.

People who deserve to be dragged out from behind their desks and be fucking beaten for being dangerous little pencil pushing fuckwits.

Agreed...when I bought my Lincoln a few years ago I upgraded to Sylvania Silver Star headlight bulbs...what a difference! Now I'm thinking of upgrading yet again to LED's!

It's almost totally thanks to shit lights, that I have experienced their perils, and more or less refuse to use them. Great lights - or no deal.

@Life_N_Times_of_Shane_T_Hanson: Whatever happened to Xenon headlights? About 15 or 20 years ago they were supposed to be the greatest coming thing, that's all everyone was talking about, then they all but disappeared and now it's LED!

@bigintol03: Xenon lights are still around.... But LEDs - are dirt cheap and put out stacks of light, and the really good ones are even better...

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/252889630279 In one sense these are too bright, BUT I live in the country and YOU NEED lots of good lighting, but the low beam has to be steered at bonnet height and below so you don't dazzle oncoming drivers. ....... What makes for nice lights in well lit suburbia, will get you killed out here. And the light bars https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/322948251061 - you will have to figure out what fits what, but these kinds of things can be good.

Super duper bright is not the right reason to be buying them - the bog stick lights gave a neat tunnel of light exactly down the highway, I needed lights to protect me from fallen trees, wild life and being able to see into the corners, before I went around them and ran into a ditch or balls of old wire in the long grass etc. So out here it is absolutely dark - no street lighting etc. https://www.mgtow.tv/v/7ur2Le ----- https://www.mgtow.tv/v/efPu9S

@bigintol03: There are "Light Bars" - replacement headlights, and LED globes to go inside your stock headlights.... Pick your lighting or lighting combinations, for your prevailing circumstances. If your 99% suburban, just get better head light globes or head lights, and if your mostly rural / country, get really decent low beam, and go to town on the high beam & driving lights.....

This gets a little bit nit picky, but there are spot light beam angles from 10*Degrees - 12*, 15* and 30* these are long range lights, an then there are flood lights with 45*, 60* and 120* Degrees. These are not absolute measurements - but pencil beam spot lights have their places, and so do the flood lights. So what works really well at walking speed on mountain goat tracks, shorter range, lower powered flood type lights, isn't that good at high speed night time highway driving on mostly straight roads (Narrow beam spot lights). But a combination of not so narrow spot light beams and decent flood light beams, is generally very good all around. My favourite ebay seller for lights. https://www.ebay.com/usr/sunyee-au/

If you notice that trucks are big, have high bullbars and lights can be mounted up quite high, that MOST trucks have their "pretty good" head lights and only 2 super powerful combination flood and spot light LED driving lights.....

https://m5.paperblog.com/i/34/....345808/huge-off-high

So it's not a case of lots of lights or lighting power, its an intelligent outcome, from a range of circumstances. -------------------------------------------------- http://bp2.blogger.com/_mm9VvT........bQur8/R6HACBG357

@bigintol03: Check out by your own vehicles workshop manual, exactly what types of lights they take, Start from there.

A close enough rule of thumb - say using 55W of power, halogens 90% heat / 10% light. LED's 90% light / 10% heat.

@bigintol03: The power consumption and visible light output ratios, mean a 55W halogen globe gives about 10% visible light - alot of that includes the visible red and yellow spectrum, and just say it's 7W of light... and 48W of heat. well a 55W LED will give off 48W of visible light and 7W of heat. So the 55W LED = 48 / 7 = ~7 x as much light as a 55W halogen or it's the same as a 400W QH light..... It is a very accurate ball park figure - but LED's keep improving, and QH manufacturers can make much hotter super bright filaments, that are close to the likits of tunsten's evaporation and melting point - so while the old slightly yellow QH lights would last a decade of night driving, the new super duper bright ones last for say 3 months of nightly driving.... So it's not a perfect ratio, but you can calculate how much more light you can get out of them and how much heat has to be dumped - not so much from the light housing, but from the back of the LED out the back og the housing.

OK the average phone camera, does not have a deep dynamic range, from very bright, to very dark, so that being said, if you stop the video at exactly 1:15, when the centre line of the road, is exactly between the knobs on the bullbar, you can see most of the head light spread in a wide fan - about 120* degrees in the video - and his high beam shine more or less straight down the road. If you down load and pause the video at 1:02 - you can see how much spread he has on his head lights.... virtually nil.
