@Hammerhand: I did developmental work on the suspension system of Wayne Gardners World Championship Super Bike for Honda Australia.... I designed the springs that were three rate compession rates - so the first 50mm of travel were soft and lovely and then the two other rates blended in to very hard rate of resistance, so the front suspension would not bottom out on hard "on the front wheel only" kinds of stops... AND so I am figuring out a way to suspend my phone from the cars road vibrations... MOST of it is not so much genius level smarts it's basically suck it and see and figuring out what combination of things does work... EVA foam tile cut up into blocks, bonded with silicone sealant and plenty of area so the foam does not compress and it's not real springy but it is also self dampening - it's a case of if there is too much resistance it won't quench out the typical road movements, and if there is not enough then the phone will move around on it's squishy mounts... It's more a balancing act than a great work of genius... I think it will be too stiff, but a bit of the EVA layers, trimming off a bit at a time, until it gets a good balance between rigidity and flexibility...

@Hammerhand: Yeah in Australia there are phone mounts for inside cars - but they are "good" (?) in the sense that they mount phones, inside the car, but none of them float the phone like a cork in 120 - 250W gear oil.... They hold the phone but do not separate the phone to a reasonable degree, from the road vibrations of the vehicle.
