I'll put 1c on it being a gas explosion....
The middle house exploded and set fire to the other two.
Gas explosions have that wonderful reality of like they might only develop 3 PSI of above atmospheric pressure but behind a 10 foot wide by 10 foot high wall, that is 120 inches by 120 inches = 14,400 square inches x 3 Psi = 43,000 pounds of force over the whole area.. ~19,600 Kg of pressure on a 3 meter by 3 meter wall....
Or "Fucking BOOOOOF!" - your whole house is reduced to a big spray of big splinters.... and because it uses up all the oxygen and the blast is relatively quick, oddly enough, quite often wooden houses that go up in gas explosions, rarely seem to catch fire.... but the things next door, when all the flames blast through the windows etc., they set fire to the curtains and furnishings etc... A big flash of high oxygen super heated air - licking everything for a few seconds...
Up they go.
And gas explosions tend to spray all the debris everywhere in a strong "blowing", or a big spray, where as "propellants and high explosives" tend to shatter and pulverise the debris.
So the gas explosion debris, leaves enough material to sort of rebuild the house completely - with a bit of imagination and lots of glue...
It's like a giant jigsaw almost...
