I was actually told that, " If Army wanted you to have a wife you would be issued one"' that did not end well, 1Sgt went off on the Co., in my squad of 12, we had 85 percent divorce rate,and unit as a whole was 53%, actually had Congressmen come and interview us,

The Navy said the same thing. Enlisted men are high value targets for the FAT PIGS that haunt the E.O. clubs. I stopped going when I saw the thirsty simps who would get plastered and then wake up the next morning with some water buffalo next to him.
The young officers, OTOH, have a far better matchmaking system available to them. If he can't pick a decent wife, then how can he be trusted with command responsibilities? If you see an officer with a fat pig, you can be sure that he was once an E6 or Chief P.O. and went through the process to become an officer. He may have come up through the hawse pipe and gotten his commission via OJT but, that FAT PIG he brought with him will prevent him from going very far.
