Popp, I hate to tell you, but the military's practice of testing on the volunteer force even making some of them volunteer for lethal research such as radiation poisoning has been going on since the 50s, if not earlier. Some of the nuclear projects were conducted by the CIA (and actual WW2 NAZI scientists "American" NAZI defectors, the Operation Papereclip types) with oversight over American troops. One can argue the whole Cold War Space Race was a competition between NAZI volunteers who joined Allied American troops and the voluntood NAZI scientists Russia "employed." When I was in Active Duty, the Big Pharma was paying them to test vaccines and sleep drugs on us. Most troops did not know this: They just followed orders. It's worse than you thought. There was an American colonel I believe it was who was in charge on the military side following orders of testing on troops watching them die from radiation poisoning and I believe some melt or disintegrate. He was going to spill the beans, but died of "natural causes," ie skydiving off his balcony. Ironically, it was after his death, the CIA Suicided manual was leaked (in the 70s I think.) His family sued and won. You have no idea how truly deep this goes. I met people who had Top Secret above the 5 letters most of us learn of, who frequented Area 51. They left and hide in plain sight... Let's just say somethings you see on SciFi such as Stargate SG1 and Atlantis are not as "fictional" as we would like.
