At 9:15 going forward, the dichotomy was stark between how enlisted men and officers found wives. At least when I was in many many decades ago. Who knows how it is now?
The worst female trash and land whales loitered in the Enlisted Men's Club and civilian places where enlisted men typically hung out. The horror stories of stupid sailors getting drunk AF and waking up married to a land whale are true.
The OFFICERS, on the other hand, enjoyed a highly filtered and controlled social environment. Junior officer Chads would find it easy to be invited into the better social circles on base where they would be set up by the queen bees (senior officers' wives) with high quality single women. A high quality wife was indispensable in proving a man's worth to be promoted to higher ranks and areas of responsibility.
