Jailbreak

There were two sets of the first 4/3 albums. Australia (4) and International (3). Australia's came out first (of course), and in order to catch up, the International pressings combined two Australian albums together: T.N.T. & Dirty Deeds. The International market lost 10 songs in the process. Those (your list) songs were on the international version of Dirty Deeds but were originally on the Australian T.N.T. However, Jailbreak (one of the lost songs) is from the Australian Dirty Deeds, but only available as a single, until the '74 Jailbreak E.P. was released internationally, containing 5 of the lost tunes. The other 5 dribbled out over the years as bonus tracks or on box sets. Record execs had a real talent of confusing everything back then, and this clusterfuck actually helped inspire them to get their shit together and just release everything, as is, on the International market. Same shit for Beatles and Stones. Both U.K. & U.S. releases, different tracks and/or different order on album, some albums only exist in U.S. (Beatles IV & Stones 12x5 for example). They used the U.K. pressings for the International market, for both Stones & Beatles. Hard to write big comments in these tiny little reply windows, hope this makes sense.

@Drums_McBashington: It is a big help... I was kind of young, had fuck all money, and what we heard, was mainly on the radio... or on a TV show called Count Down. Very early teen age years.... But it was so long ago. I do remember Young talking about the traps of being a star, that once you buy into the hollywood life style, with the big house, the fancy cars and all the crap, your fucked. Where as if people work at it like a real job, and stay humble, they can do really well.

@Life_N_Times_of_Shane_T_Hanson: Yep. They partied like the rest at first, but Bon shook them to the core, settled them right down. Rush was the same, but from the beginning, partied a little, but kept their heads down. Bands they toured with made fun of them because they weren't 'acting like rock stars' and fucking groupies. They would stay in their hotel and write songs, had a french a tutor on one tour. Played live as often as they could, even doing opening act gigs when they were already headliners. A lot of bands have claimed to be 'the hardest working band in rock', but Rush has receipts. I have a live show bootleg for every single year that they were a band, up until they started touring on their own, spacing releases and tours a few years apart to spend time with families. There is a five or so year period of nothing, drummer retired after his family died, the other two did side projects until the drummer dealt with his issues and rejoined. No tours or boots for that period, obviously, but picked up right where they left off after that. They were banned from Canadian radio when they first came out, made it on word of mouth from amazed fans. They had 4 studio albums, a triple LP set (first 3, re-released to keep up with demand) and a double live album, before they got a track off their fifth studio album on the radio. Had to create their own label in the first place, just to get their first single pressed. Fuckin' outlaws.

But Australia is a long way from anywhere...... So you don't get to hear much and the radio networks have their frequent player lists, and the "alternatives" have 10,000 bands, scrabbling to get airtime, sales and gigs. Plus in this location we only get ONE radio station, which is Australian Broad Casting's "Radio Australia" - which is local topical content - talk show shit and deceitful commie propaganda. The CNN / NBC of Australia..... So I have not heard of any new material of any bands for like 25 years.

@Life_N_Times_of_Shane_T_Hanson: Don't know if they've ever played Australia, seen a lot of bootlegs, don't remember seeing any from there either. I'm going to check now. They didn't go everywhere though. First time in South America was near the end of their career, for example.

Do you remember The Easybeats? AC/DC's older brother. Helped start them off and played bass on their early recordings, until they got one of their own.

@Life_N_Times_of_Shane_T_Hanson: I've got over 30 Hancock albums spanning early 70s to late 80s (and a bootleg or three). Apex Twin was awesome, reminded me a little of The Prodigy (but that's probably because that's the only band I have with a similar style/sound). Marrs was cool as well. Interesting stuff, I'll be checking out more of their work.
