My Dad's friend and his brother were machinists who worked at an aerospace electric generator company. and finally, a 110 or 120 volt line is the same thing and is called either.. and the voltage will vary somewhat.. I know in africa they use a 240 volt system.. so do we per se but our system is different./. it is actually only 110 volts..

this dude. TMI wants to win the big invisible prize called EGO.. ;) using semantics.. in America our system is exactly how I described it.. to get 220 volts requires (2) 110 volts.. because that is all there is.. 110 volts.. and in the name of education.. that is what it is..
