When Americans study America, it is studied from "top to bottom" from State structure, Constitution, Bill Of Rights, Foundation, and Civil War/Declaration Of Independence. Then move on to contemporary social issues, i.e. immigration, economy, politics.
When Americans study India, they do it from "bottom to top". The exact opposite way; issues like sanitation, caste system; ascribing these phenomenon as a feature of Indian culture.
Flaws in Western society are considered features of Indian society, governance, and culture.
