Some nutter Xian chick said, "Oh look at the poor horse!"

I explained to her that the reason they are cutting the guy out of the suit - by the leather straps done up to hold it all together, is because:

a) The trained up battle horse is worth a lot of money and it's a BIG resource in a horse / oxen based transport and farming economy.

b) The suit of armor is also worth a shit load of money.

c) The guy inside the suit - is probably very wealthy - AND he is worth shitloads as a hostage held for ransom and;

d) Given that pictures and tapestries etc., were the photographic record of the day, the horse and scene, appears to be faithfully represented and might be dramatised for effect or it could be a memory of the artist at the moment of capture of the knight, however the horse only has a few nicks and scratches, as opposed to serious wounds - and impaling objects in it - such as major injuries, cuts, arrows, stakes etc...

So for all intents and purposes, it's reasonable to believe that the highly prized "free horse" - is going to be all right.
