You make several great points that made me gel some thoughts. The gym is for personal heath and long term energy. When attracting women comes into play, Only the lowest value females like the brutes. Hind brain animal instinct possibly. But the harsh reality is that what was called "game" does work. (Charisma and charm) Amazingly well. Unfortunately that can cause disillusion in men as well.

@Calling All Stations: I freely admit I have no game. Women approach me, I've said no to women way more than they've ever said no to me, but I don't really approach either. I get complimented on my looks, my demeanor, even my smell. I appear intimidating but speak intellectually, and this seems to cause women to experience a “combination shock”, where first they perceive a bad boy, and wind up experiencing a rational male. I'd fall very strongly into that 'sigma male' archetype as it has been described, so I'm not very outgoing but gel well enough with people under circumstances. What I am saying is that for me, getting women has generally been easier when I wasn't trying. Looks and personality have done more for me than putting on muscle and spending money. In my life, even as a teen, women have spent more money on me than I on them. It isn't work, skill, or any other snake oil; I just be myself and the women that aren't too nervous to talk with me (or even look at me) end up liking me, and on some level wanting me. For someone that is as aloof and as frank as I am (some call it “intimidating”), it puzzles me how this works, though I get that I am atypical. I really think there is no rhyme or reason to it, attraction is attraction, and the vagaries of female infatuation cannot be harnessed by squats and oats, PUA, or anything else people think will tip the odds. I'll add that I think conniving your way into a woman's panties is a short term and short lived affair. Longer term commitments won't survive on the basis of a few clever lines or looking good in the moment. She'll get over that, and thus you, if you try basing a relationship on 'catching' her.
