Plan the escape. There's no point talking to liars. There'd always be an unfeasible "reason" why it would be either "not what it looks like" or "my fault". Or maybe Orange Man created the environment where blah blah blah.

In my past when I was hurt by several women, I contemplated many potential actions, some not so upstanding. In the end I valued my life more than some revenge. Knowing the system was stacked against me I got away fairly clean. In some ways I was lucky I was poor because taking me to court would have cost more money than she would have got out of the situation. I came to the understanding after many bad relationships and terrible outcomes that the odds were stacked against men. Once you get into that relationship you are going to suffer consequences. It is like jumping into a pit full of crocodiles, sticking around to fight is probably not going to end well for you. There is a temptation to hurt back, get revenge, and I understand that compulsion. In some ways you just end up giving her more opportunities to hurt you. Even if you did something violent or illegal you would end up in jail, and she'd still get the better of you. The best revenge is to do well. When you leave, your focus and revenge should be to become amazing. Make your life the very best it can be. The more wealthy and wonderful your new life becomes, the more angry she will get. My last Ex left me with 16 grand to pay off. It took me 6 years to clear that balance, get a much better paying job. I spent those years living frugal, and being the butt end of jokes. It wasn't easy, but I was so angry and determined that I pushed on. I am still pushing forward in my own life. My Ex is married now to some loser. He once threatened me, but I ignored him, knowing being with my Ex was punishment enough. Today's hero will be tomorrow's victim..... I certainly wasn't going to warn him of his doom after he threatened me. I actually felt a bit of sympathy for him, but not enough to warn him. I was a white knight hero many times in my past. I finally decided to white knight for myself, and I've never looked back. When woman starts crying and asking me to slay a dragon for her, I wish her all the best luck in the world, and that I hope she wins her fight on her own. I am not captain save a hoe anymore.
