I disagree with Women s Suffrage being the cause of the WELFARE state. Originally, in the 1930's, and during a Great Depression, the welfare state was considered a ''grand Christian'' Ideal. However, decades later the original purpose of welfare was usurped by a class of individual that enjoyed free money. In the past three decades this has further morphed into "Big-Daddy-Gov't" owes "US" a living. The greater fault of a welfare state is its' capacity to absolve self respect of its peoples. The quality of self respect is absent currently, but, this aspect of an individual was culturally vital in the 1930's.
