It's a great idea, till someone fucks it up... LOL There is a place like that somewhere around 20 K north of Ballarat in Victoria Australia. It was also an open pit mine, and legend has it that when it closed down, it was uneconomical to sell the equipment and there was a big steam bucket excavator in the bottom... and as the pit filled with water everything got submerged and was forgotten... and the cliff into the water was maybe 2/3rds the height of this... (I have been there and swum in it - not dived - if I can't seen the bottom, I ain't diving...." and the it's been reported that on an odd occassion that when the water was a bit low and the kids have dived deep, they have hit / gotten caught up in the dragline / bucket excavator and drowned.... I can't remember where it is, and there are squillions of open pit mines, dams and watering holes etc., north of Ballarat - but I will look it up - by asking people who might know. about it.
