As I was told in Navy bootcamp, "If the Navy wanted you to have a wife, they would have issued one to you."
IMO, only a senior NCO or mid-level officer should be allowed (or maybe encouraged if he's a Chad) to get married. He should be established enough by age and rank to take on the responsibility. He should be in long enough to acquire powerful friends and THEIR WIVES will find a suitable woman for him. Just as in civilian life, a quality woman can validate a career military man in the eyes of his superiors.
