It's unfortunate that it has come to this, but this is exactly what the truckers (or at least the organizers of the protest) wanted. It's a page out of Gandhi's and Martin Luther King, Jr.'s playbook of civil disobedience and non-violent protest. Namely, to force the tyrant's hand, to reveal their true face of despotism, and then broadcast their violence to the world.

But to achieve that requires weathering the violence, requires having protesters in the trenches - whether they're aware of the overarching plan or not - being beaten, trampled, and bloodied. Only then will the Great Middle, the moderate centrists, the fence sitting masses of citizens who'd rather look the other way finally be shook out of their apathy and complacency at the scenes of violence being done to peaceful protestors. Only then will things change once the sympathy of a majority of the population has been won by the protesters having been willing to put themselves in harm's way.

That's how the British Raj was kicked out of India, that's how the Civil Rights movement and the end of segregation were achieved in America. And so it must be for Canada.

This is really sad to watch, we, as a people, American, Canadian, Australian or otherwise are truly at a precipice, and I do firmly believe that there will be no going back from the results of what happens next! Our very freedom is on the line, I wish the Canadian truckers all the very best, the whole world is with them!
