@The Man Inside: in Ecuador? That's insane. I haven't studied nthis, but I don't know how people can go hungry in places that export so much food. I know that much of what is grown is for export, but it still makes little sense. I guess it might be like people serving designer clothes in a sweatshop.

@thisisamgtowaccount: remember Fuckraine under Stalin? And don't forget moving to the cities has been promoted for decades. Most people are stupid as fuck and can't do anything for themselves. If there's no water on the toilet, they shit the same and don't know what to do next.

@The Man Inside: yes, that's true. Maybe my perception of the region is inaccurate. Venezuela has political problems that resulted in 1 million refugees moving to Colombia. Colombia has troubles, but they absorbed the refugees. I thought that Ecuador was more prosperous than Colombia, but I should educate myself better. Regarding cities, yes, the "stack and pack" housing is proliferating. I don't see how I can afford much in North America, so my plan/dream is to find a way to have a small farm in the tropics.
