The Monument to the Liberators of Soviet Latvia and Riga from the German Fascist Invaders, shortened to ‘Victory Memorial’ for obvious reasons, is a focal point for Victory Day celebrations in Riga. <br> <br>Many, however, see the monument not as a memorial to the Second World War, but as a reminder of Latvia’s time in the Soviet Union.
