Russia demands explanation for Biden’s Nord Stream 2 comments

Once again, Joe Biden’s ill thought out comments are coming back to haunt him. On February 7, Biden appeared to make a direct threat to Russia’s Nord Stream 2 pipeline, promising that the US would be able to ‘bring an end to it’ should Russia ‘invade Ukraine’. Fast forward to September, and Nord Stream 2 has been mysteriously damaged, seemingly by an act of sabotage. <br> <br>Now Moscow is demanding a thorough investigation into the incident, while the EU has warned that ‘any deliberate disruption of active European energy infrastructure is unacceptable and will lead to the strongest possible response.’ Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has asked exactly who this ‘response’ will be aimed at, given the number of fingers currently pointing at Washington (the only party who stands to gain from the Russia-EU gas supply being cut off.)
