CGA might have the answer since he's been living and working among women his entire life, unlike most of us who barely interact with them on daily basis. but if you want to go religious, eve was created from adam's rib, so she was inherently inferrior to adam from the beginning of time. if we take this story we could probably say that indeed, women were always seen as lesser human beings since the dawn of time. and when we read some old stories from bible or other religions, we know it was not just because of their inherent physical weakness. so tl;dr you might be correct.

God doesn't make mistakes. We (or rather, the men that preceded us) gave women equality. Women are according to their nature, which includes being inherently unable to develop higher stages of morality (TFM talks about this quite a bit sometimes), so positions of influence and power have been given to the amoral or morally impaired by men. Women are as they are because that is what they are, including own group preference, delusions of oppression, and their abusive nature. It was men that gave these women their influence and power. You can educate a woman, you can give women skill sets, and even put them in the work force, but you cannot augment a woman's morality or capacity for reason. They will always (or with rare exception) be emotional reasoners, which is why they should not be leaders or hold positions of power. This was not God's plan, and this is not God's error. The moment women lead is the moment we truly begin down the path of our own ruin. Even men like Socrates could see that.

In God's image he created him; male and female he created them." notice it has two parts! it's funny to use bible to argue some points, lol(i'm not religious at all).

@spectre: Refer to the original poster's first line. I'm Christian, I was responding, in part, to this statement. Also, the modern bible is full of missing punctuations and conflation, so as an argument it takes careful research (ie: no confirmation bias) to show any validity to any point. For example, "lust" as it is referred to by Jesus and Paul, is regarded as a mistranslation by some (and they appear to b correct), confusing the Greek words (the language of that time) Epithumeo and Epithumia, one meaning lust and the other meaning covet, which makes a large difference in what the actual sin is (covet; lust was not referred to in the original commandments). Biblical Gender Roles has a compelling blog post about this very subject. Jesus also warns us about making biblical arguments when lacking knowledge, and I try being mindful of making assertions when I'm still learning these things myself. And yes, I was referring to TFM's oft referred "Kohlberg & Gilligan" mentions.
