Salo was banned from public viewing for 25 years in Australia, after it was released.
I won some tickets to go see it, when it was released with an Adult Only rating..
I wasn't as sensitive to some issues in it, nearly as much as I am now.
I need to be stable, fully rested and perhaps only watch it in 5 or 10 minute bits.
The film is based upon the writings of Marque De Sade.
There are many good things about this movie, such as the countryside and archetecture of Italy, and many people would have had no exposure to the works of De Sade.
It is important to see the works of a psychopath, in order to understand the psychopath. This is where the true worth or value of the movie lies.
Further reading and research into the Marque De Sade, is interesting, in that the people of his time desired to kill him.
