Starting your own business is a highly risky and often foolish move. Very few can see a genuine need and find the means to fill it. The few small businesses that do succeed have special contracts, special situations, and special friends to ensure its success. Both cases come from Big Companies as their customers. They are not at the mercy of a cash-poor consumer, which makes up the vast majority of the 40+ year old (((Reaganomics))) economy.

In the past, people worked for large domestic companies that were highly capitalized and could pay good wages. The benefits that the Silent Generation and most Baby Boomers enjoyed could only come from large companies and from a government that had the political mandate to protect workers and enforce labor rights. The Big Automakers, big corporations like Endicott-Johnson, Bell Telephone, GE, Rexall, Westinghouse, military-industrial complex, steel makers, plastics, and so many other big 20th century companies made the good life possible for the masses. Big, big concentrations of working capital also supported the feeder businesses and suppliers. No small rinky dink business can match that for ensuring a good life and retirement pension. Unfortunately, all of the entry-, low-, and mid-level jobs in that mighty machine were offshored to China and the sweatshops. Only the parasites at the top enjoy the benefits.

An economy built on two-bit small businesses that can barely support themselves is a guaranteed failure. And with all of our consumption needs being largely met by China and other low-wage countries, what is left but the fringe and niche markets? Too many people in those tiny economic fragments chasing too few people with surplus money to spend. On top of that, no real wealth or value is being created. Just digital bullshit, McJobs, gigs, and maybe a tiny number of con jobs that get rich playing the MLM card
