In the UK we have a thing called the Territorial Army. It's like a part-time, reserve of people trained by and part of the regular army, and membership is voluntary. If there's something similar in the US, I encourage citizens to join up. If there isn't, make one.

As a Veteran, I do agree with Popp for the most part. What I see now is many of the preppers, and others forming groups which is a good thing. The problem with this however is if, the need for a group to stand up against a threat, perceived or otherwise happens all it will take is one shot fired, and the whole thing goes sideways.
Once shooting starts the average person is going to lose their sh1t, and be in full panic mode. Even if LE moves in it could flash into a firestorm, and quickly spread. I am all for being prepared, and suggest others do the same. However, we need to be smart and not let our anxiety force us to make a bad decision. Once started it can spread like a wildfire and be very difficult to stop.
If it comes to a WROL situation, so be it but, people need to understand this will be no Fri-Sun event. It will be 24/7/365 until over. It will likely mean, no infrastructure; power, water, internet, police, EMT, NADA. It will also mean no more "Just in time" deliveries to the supermarket, no more gas etc. Imagine a world with NONE of the services we take for granted today. On top of that there will be chaos in the streets, at first for ideology, then for resources, then for control. Mark my words, IT WILL GET UGLY!
I know, I know, you have some food, a couple guns, and think you're hard... After you have seen some death, smelled the stench of a burning or 6 day old body, then we will see. Until then, be very careful what you wish for, you just might get it.
