The Final 24 - Hunter S Thompson

⁣Many decades ago - me and the boys were partying, and at that time, I was reading, "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" by Hunter S. Thompson.

Many decades later, I reread it, a few times, when the movie came out, and I was surprised at how accurate the written word and a few drawings from the book, could be made so faithfully into a film that was an almost exact copy of the book.

However with the ravages of the drug scene, I found that most of my peers of that time, had suicided, over dosed or really fucked themselves up in major sorts of ways.

While Thompson had been an interesting influence, he had never made any effort to show people how to survive and get out of the drug scene.

They were all trapped with no way out.

So I wrote him a letter (yes with real paper, an envelope and a stamp) telling him about the issues I have raised, and that he had an obligation to give people an exit strategy with addictions and issues, and he had not done it.

Around 6 months later, he wrote on his type writer, "Councillor", then he killed himself.

No one connected to him, knew why this was his last final act.

I did.

He fulfilled his obligation to me.

"If you have issues, go and get help".
