I'm old enough to remember gaming before the internet, and a lot of people, myself included didn't trust Valve or Microsoft "digital ownership", but it still took off. So did Apple, Google, Sony, spotify, Amazon, and so many others. Best Buy is just following the lead that's already been started. As younger generations grow up with this available, the next generation of adults will not be so reluctant. The adage "they're marketing this toward your children" remains true.
