Simplifying people's arguments can make anyone sound dumb, congrats. Why don't we have a real discussion instead... Leftists have no principles other than "agree with the group". They will say or do anything as long as it is approved by the collective. This is because they're weak people and as such they want to be protected/accepted by the group at all costs. Rightwingers on the other hand, particularly the religious Right, sticks to a strict set of principles that are shared within their group. These principles may no longer apply or be downright suicidal/retarded, but they will stand by them because that's what they were taught. The problem is neither side thinks for themselves, it's all about the group. If the group says "marry and have children", they will obey regardless of the laws and the state of society. If the group says "sacrifice yourself and protect women", the Right will comply even if women no longer serve men. Now if you simplify these two realities, you get "The Left has no principles and the Right has too many principles". Yes it sounds stupid, but that's on you.

@ShadowCrafter: Simplifying someone's arguments only makes them sound dumb if their argument is dumb. You don't create something that isn't there when reducing something, so no, that's on the person who originated the argument.

@ShadowCrafter: Your "point" is that it isn't dumb because you said so. That's not an argument, it's an opinion.

@ShadowCrafter: The characteristics of either group are really irrelevant. Group A is dumb because they do "X". Group B is dumb because they don't do "X". So the key to being not dumb is to simultaneously do and not do "X", I guess.... TFM's criticisms are that one group has principles and the other group has no principles.

@OmegaMan99: What's dumb isn't belonging to either group but refusing to think for yourself. When you believe in something just because the group tells you, that is herd mentality. Both the Right and the Left engage in it. The difference is, the Right sticks to a few core principles while the Left only has one principle, agree with whatever the group says (which is why they appear to have no principles). I'm sure if TFM takes the time to talk about this issue in depth, he'll say something similar. In any case, I'm not saying everyone on the Right or Left is a sheep or that you're dumb for belonging to either group. You can believe in Jesus and still think for yourself. But, then again, how many people on the religious right, understand that sex dolls and pretending to be transgender are the logical solutions to this shitshow? Almost none, because they can't think beyond their principles. That is the problem and that's what TFM is criticizing.

Most right-wingers would rather join feminists and attack transgenders and sex dolls, than to tell women "NO" and accept that their moral code doesn't make sense in the current year. Not only that, but they will gladly censor anyone who opposes their views, just like the Left. There are very few people on either side that are actually pro freedom, most just want to force their beliefs on others.

@ShadowCrafter: Principles are designed to maintain integrity. No principles, no integrity. You're just a jellyfish. TFM's patron saint Nietzsche said when you fight monsters you risk becoming one yourself. What does that profit you...or anyone? The other thing is that the moral fluidity TFM promotes is driven by people he hates. It's reactionary. Anyway, we're way off the initial topic. I don't give a fuck if TFM wants his make believe teaparty, just don't try to convince me that it's mentally healthy.

The left have zero principles and will sacrifice there own on a dime when it’s convenient, the right only have principles and will sacrifice themselves or others to keep them.

Clearly somewhere in the middle is the right answer
