The way a dowry worked is the father offers the prospective suitor a chest or basket of goods along with his daughter since the daughter didn't have any real value other than her holes and some ability to cook and clean and that was rightfully seen as a burden lifted off the father and onto the male suitor so the father had to offer a lot more to take his daughter off his hands.

Just like to throw this philosophical musing out there to the "legalize everything" boomer-crowd.
"Legalizing everything" has the outcome of case law sets precedent for all social interactions.
Case law setting precedent necessarily dictates how you live in the world which is the same philosophical shift that the original progressives implemented regarding the idea of the "living constitution" where the constitution now means whatever the Kritarchy (rule by judges) says it means which dictates your freedom or rather lack of freedom.
Legalizing something does not make it necessarily good or socially acceptable or morally acceptable because government says it's okay, maaaan.
Politicians are not moral, our founding fathers, philosophers and writers of the past have explained this point well.
I notice that people do not think in terms of what is right or wrong they think in terms of litigious precedent or legalities even though they themselves are not lawyers but yet want everything socially being mired in or dictated by state prosecution.
That's not freedom, that's lack of freedom.
So fuck people who say "legalize everything."
Legalizing everything is an appeal to executive government force.

Mark Middleton also suffered from a similar "mental illness" that Seth Rich suffered from: being too close to the progressive cathedral and implicating them in high level crimes of national importance.
Seth Rich was definitely more creative somehow achieving the impossibility of shooting himself in the back multiple times in an "apparent suicide."
