always funny to me how tfms most 'controversial' argument in terms of peoples feelings is male supremacy, while its his least controversial argument in terms of accurately describing reality.

theres nothing to discuss or debate. he is simply correct.

Kuroi is correct here. The only universal net positive return on education is early primary. Kids add little value to the labor pool, and the basic math and reading that they learn in early primary add a ton of value in their later life as workers.

Everything beyond early primary is highly situational. East Asian 'Tiger' nations were able to leverage very specific niches in the Western global supply chain, so massive government investment in higher education paid off. Not every country is similarly positioned. Sending a bunch of Somalis to university isnt going to magically turn it into South Korea in a generation.

i didnt finish high school. got bored of construction in my early 20s. got my ged. went to university. got office jobs.

tfm is correct though that people who arent bothering with school should be tracked out into some practical skill courses instead of failing them through grade 12 and wasting resources.

you can learn everything you need from high school (math/english) in 6 months after work. maybe another 6 months of night classes if you want to prep for more advanced stuff like a stem degree.

the key is to stop treating tertiary education like some big social sorting machine, and instead turn it into a place that trains people for jobs.

Not everyday that i'm commenting, but that outburst from TFM left me with a really bad taste in my mouth. What a way to start 2023. Very dissapointing.

Uh, was it really that big of a deal? I wouldn't even have remembered about it if not for all these comments. It's like, who cares? he got pissed at what he thought was technical issues which is like getting pissed at lag spikes or when a program crashes at a really bad time. Makes sense to me.

I'm not sure if the guest is nervous, drunk, lying his ass off or just retarded.

I used to be like that when I was in my mid teens and a bit of my late teens. Maybe he's just really young..... but the vast majority of what he says is bullshit. He randomly brings up factoids that go nowhere which is something you do when you want to sound legit when BSing. That way if someone points out your bullshit, you can bring up the factoid as your 'defense'. Heh.
