@CrunshyNumbers: He was prevented from leaving by the Ukrainian government. He didn't specify how, but I suspect they took his passport or if they found him outside the city of khariov, they'd arrest him.

@GenericAvatar: Right, so if you fear for your life you would not try crossing the border regardless? In Europe we have 1000s of people crossing borders illegally and they do not have passports. Gonzo claimed that was loaded. So he could have bought his way out of the country... This all does not make sense...

@GenericAvatar: I never really watched him, just here and there, plus when he appeared on The Duran. Compulsion or not, if you face an existential threat incl torture, you get the hell out. This is just survival instinct. I remember seeing a video after his 1st release and he looked very shaken. So, I can not understand why he stayed, makes absolutely no sense, or he had a dead wish....

I wholeheartedly disagree. The nature of cause and effect is not counterintuitive. It's a matter of perception for most people to rely on what they have been told about a thing rather than what their intuition says; which is why when they are confronted with the truth it seems counterintuitive.

However, TFM is right about the things we experience create who we are. Pain can create desires for change, and by changing, we grow and develop. Whether it's positive or negative change is up to you.

There are plenty of laws that restrict speech in public, but not because of the content. You can run around a park screaming that you love everyone and that theyre all beatutiful people, and still get some kind of disturbing the peace charge.

In general people have gotten way too comfortable disturbing others in public, when there are actually plenty of laws that protect people's rights to stand anywhere they want and be left alone in peace. The issue is the physicality of the offending behavior, not the content. Some guy walking around with a sign saying "I Hate Jews" isnt offending anyone in any physical sense, while someone screaming in people's faces about how great the jews are is.
