This is kind of off topic but school taught me that apologies are meaningless. They always forced apologies regardless of fault of the parties involved. So for me I see apologies as essentially worthless.

I wouldn't say necessarily off topic as, even in the case of the video, the apology could in a sense be considered obligatory; at least in the eyes of the female offering it as there may be the perception that there is no other choice.
