I have a sibling, I have noticed that old couples somewhat resemble a brother/sister relationship. It's much more abrasive than what the stages of love preceding it are, but it's also because you know each other so well (each others boundaries) and like siblings you kind accept that your stuck together. Kind of s weird perspective maybe, but in the case of couples married 20+ years the series of compromises each person must make to make it work would result in a homogeneity of sorts. Its been documented to that people who are together for a such a long time even begin to take on each other facial appearances.
