Yeah, the best way is to get into a position to run your own business. Being a software dev is the best way, if you are up to it, and most aren't. Society is extremely rigged, but the economy is thankfully fair. If you scratch an itch, you can get paid, and individual consumers have much less leverage over you than a boss does.

Sadly, the workplace is high school, as you say. The women don't want to be associated with an ugly guy, and they will go so far as to try to get you fired in order to not be seen in public with you. I suspect women are hired to social proof the boss in the first place. Expats to China say they got white monkey jobs, we have them here too, the prerequisite is just be good-looking though. You can be a diversity monkey, a female monkey, etc. And a white monkey? That's called sales.

People replicate their conditioning. We are a society of people who have all gone through public school. It's important not to make unqualified statements. In a society where people are conditioned in public school, society resembles high school. Why would it be the same in a society where people aren't conditioned this way? It wouldn't be.
