You see the main way the dogs teeth work , is to go into the flesh, and then the dog pulls and shakes it's head - and this rips open the flesh, and lots of small and larger blood vessels - causing huge blood loss in a short period of time.

When going into a riot possible site., pad up both arms and carry a carving knife. Offer your arm, since they are trained to go for it, them stab with the long blade into their chest.

And your more likely to only protect one arm, with wooden slats, and to be stabbing the dog into the skull (brain) / spinal / neck / heart lung area. You want a handle, your hand can retain a grip over, and can pull the blade out, as well as drive it in through bones.

@Life_N_Times_of_Shane_T_Hanson: I was thinking more of the common person that has now training or forethought. A short blade still needs skill to insert in the chest area has the dog will have your arm in its mouth. Allow the bite, lift arm high, stab neck and chest. Neck to cut blood supply to brain and weaken muscle with the loss of blood pressure. Needed to retract arm from the clamp down. Chest to deflate the lung.

my brother has a friend, she has this kinda dog. They re war machine. Taking walk in the woods they don't bring a branch, they literally hold a log on their mouth. He's a big lovely baby though, very gentle with small cats. Paradoxical though, when you pet them you can feel only muscles. I feel lucky this beast is not totally savage, I don't think we'd survive for so long...

Walking the double tight rope was very impressive. But as far as the off the end of the pier scenes, not so much. Any dog that would attack me in the water would lose it's life. I can hold my breath a lot longer, and weather attached to me or not, I can hold it down under.
