Negroes routinely practiced cannibalism prior to the arrival of white European explorers. There's a very good book called 'Negroes in Negroland' which outlines some of the negro customs, which included cannibalism, routine infanticide (like it was nothing), and tribes attacking, capturing, torturing and eating neighbouring tribes. The Europeans reported in their diaries that the Negroes prized human flesh over all other types of meat.
